History Becomes Legend
Amid the noise and confusion of The Five Armies, Faramir had to struggle to understand the young Rohir, speaking haltingly in heavily accented Westron.
“Your brother, Lord Boromir ... well known ... noble man, mighty warrior ... beloved by our Prince. We have for him made a song -” He looked nervously to his friends for encouragement, as Faramir nodded his assent.
Stillness fell upon the room as the Rohirrim sang of bright sun, dark moon, valor, love beyond death. The words themselves were understood by only a few, but the power and majesty of the elegy spoke to the hearts of all.

Date: 2006-04-23 04:19 am (UTC)Yep, "Any friend of our Prince is a friend of ours." I only wish they could have gotten togehter even half as much as we've imagined them together!
Glad to have some action here

Date: 2006-04-24 03:50 am (UTC)I'd never thought about the fact that rural Rohirrim would speak Rohirric as their first language and might not be that great with Westron. Every Rohir we meet in the books is attached to the court, and therefore quite well educated, but others might have a bit of a problem being understood in Minas Tirith.
